Meet the Namibians Behind Wild Escapes

This is a small, specialist operation, and that is deliberate. Everything we send you to, we have driven, walked, or slept in ourselves.

"We didn't discover Namibia. We grew up in it. This is the country we know by heart."

We are Namibian. Not Namibia enthusiasts, not returning visitors - people who learned to drive on these gravel roads, who know which pass is worth the detour in February, and who have family and friendships spread from the Kunene to the Orange River.

Over years of travelling this country, first for ourselves and then with guests, one thing kept repeating: visitors arrived with a beautifully printed itinerary that had been assembled by someone who had never been to half the places on it. Too many nights in the wrong region. Six-hour drives scheduled after an early game drive. Lodges chosen because they were easy to book rather than because they were good.

Wild Escapes exists to close that gap. We design the journey; we arrange the bookings; carefully chosen partners - independent guides, lodge teams, ground operators we know personally - handle delivery once you land. We do not own vehicles, employ guides or run camps, and we prefer it that way: it lets us recommend the best option rather than our own.

Why work with a specialist

What local knowledge actually changes.

  • Judgement, not inventory

We know which lodges are worth the price and which trade on a view. That judgement comes from staying there, not from a rate sheet.

  • Pacing

Namibian distances are the single most common planning mistake. We build routes around real driving hours and light.

  • Access

Guides we have travelled with, camps whose owners answer the phone, and partners who take our calls when a plan needs to change mid-trip.

  • Honesty about trade-offs

Some regions are not worth it in certain months. We will say so, even when it shortens the itinerary.

A note from the founders

We started this because we kept being asked the same question by friends of friends in Europe: "We want to see Namibia properly - where do we even begin?"

For a while we answered informally, over long emails and late calls. Eventually it became clear that the answer deserved more care than that. So we built something small and deliberate: a service where one conversation shapes one route, and where the person designing your trip has actually stood in the places on it.

If you would rather work with a large agency and a call centre, we understand - but if you want the version of Namibia we would plan for our own family, that is exactly what we do.
